SERVICES > Full CMS Sites
A full CMS system enables a site owner to control all or virtually all of their site's content or add to/remove from it whenever they wish. This is done by means of a sequence of back-office tools. Taking on the responsibility for content in-house can offer significant cost savings over a period of time, but is not without its drawbacks. In particular, it may involve an understanding of HTML with many so called CMS systems and can often be beyond the skills of many. We believe that there is a middle ground with CMS. We work on the basis that CMS should give you the facilites to be able to add new pages, edit text, upload pictures and adjust prices etc without the need for any knowledge of HTML. Our CMS systems are developed for the specific needs of your site. The back office tools will prompt you for the information required to complete a template, with a predefined template set out for each specific purpose. A full CMS system will have a number of different editing tools which contol different aspects of your site. Initially, the costs of development for a CMS system may be considerably higher than for a static page site with no CMS controls (unless you have a need for a large number of pages) but the initial costs are soon recovered over a period of time as you can edit your own pages without having to pay for our time editing your content for you. From experience, the break even point for the development of a CMS system is around a 15 page website IF all 15 pages are similar, ie having no special requirements. Any part of your site which requires frequent editing may be best developed as a CMS system, but whether you should invest in a full CMS system depends upon the overall needs of all of your site. A partial CMS site may be better for you in many circumstances. CONTACT US and we can discuss it with you. We have an almost totally 'self maintained' ecommerce site as a demo such that you can see for yourself just how easy and fast it can be to self maintain. The link provided is for the public access display side of the site. If you wish to see the demo "back-office" facilities, please visit the i-BikeShop site and submit an admin demo request.
